The Awards Ceremony :)

Hey everyone! I feel like I've abandoned this blog and the ones that I follow, but I am back now. :) Things have been busy and I've been so tired by the time I get a lot of computer time, that I guess I took an unplanned break from blogging. Anyways, like I said, I am back and I have a super fun post I've been writing, thanks to my sweet friend, Lacey, over at A Thinking Place. I was smiling so much when I found out she nominated me for the Liebster blog award. My very first blog award. :D Thank you, Lacey!

So, now's the fun part; you basically write out eleven facts about yourself, answer the questions the person who awarded you asked, and then nominate eleven blog authors who have less than 200 followers who you think deserve to be awarded for their blogging, then ask them eleven questions. The encouragement keeps going and going. Isn't that so awesome?! :)

11 Facts About Me:

I used to have an unexplainable fear of the Ricola cough drop jingle. Alright, it's still a little spooky...

I eat honey on top of ice cream. :)

Gray is my very favorite color. That counts as a color, right? Please?

Okay, funny story fact time. When I was around eleven or so, my oldest sis, Jennifer, made a bet that I couldn't guess what a certain wrapped (honestly unsnuck in, might I add) present was that my parents got for me. She's always bet like that, but this time she told me if I got it right the first time she'd give me a hundred dollars. Who knows how I figured out it was a Nutcracker music box... well, I had picked it out in a store. ;) I digress. I guessed it right the very first time and she looked like I had punched her in the face, haha! Anyway, we made a deal and she ended up instead taking me and another one of our sisters to a Switchfoot concert. A perfect ending. ;)
(Sadly, I don't think she'll "present bet" with me anymore.)

I'm a mutt with my heritage background, but a pretty cool mutt: Austrian, Cherokee Native American, Irish, and the list goes on and on...I believe even Gypsy is somewhere down the line. ;)

I'm the baby in my family of four girls: Jennifer, Alissa, Sammy and me. And trust me, I'm still treated as the baby.

Most of the time I cannot stand to cry in front of people and more than one time I've actually tipped my head backwards to make the tears go back in, so they won't show. It works, you guys! It may look completely ridiculous, but it works.

I cannot stand ketchup. If a condiment were an enemy of mine, it would be ketchup.

I would go barefoot all the time if I could. Well, okay, not if I was walking on flaming hot lava or ice peaks in the Arctic, but that's seriously improbable.

My camera's name is Mr. Rochester.

I love old songs and dancing around to them. :)

My Questions Answered:

Have you ever eaten tofu?
Yes, I sure have! The first time I tried it I believe it was my vegetarian sister's tofu. It wasn't seasoned, so I wasn't really crazy about it. But I had it in Thai coconut soup and it was pretty much incredible. :)

What happened to bigfoot's mother?
She's in Mount Everest at Disney World.

Describe your dream wedding dress (or your dress you wore if you are married)
Alright, I actually haven't thought too much about what I want my wedding to look like but I have pondered the dress and... I'm not sure, sadly. I used to want a long, fluffy, tulle stuffed sorta princess dress, but the other day I was on Pinterest (I know, I know) and I saw a really simple, but beautifully old fashioned dress that made me think again. So, I guess I'll just have to try them on. But not now. When I actually have a fiancee, because otherwise I would look a little strange shopping for one.

Have you ever had any major injuries?
Hmm, not really. I probably take this for granted far too much.

When did you discover the secret of the Tooth Fairy?
Oh, how the Tooth Fairy really wants cookies like Santa, but is rarely given any? ;) I heard this just recently. Poor Tooth Fairy.

Tell me about an older adult in your life who has made a big impact on you.
First thought is of course my parents and then my sisters, but I'm going to go off the beaten track for this one. Me and my family vacation in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee almost every year. There this charming glass carving shop there that we've stopped time and time again; and the owner, an older British man with a spunky attitude, told us some of his story. It was beautiful, and I still can't believe that real love stories like his actually happen in real life.

Do you believe in aliens? (that's a serious question!)
I would like to believe in them, if for nothing more than to meet E.T. and buy him a bag of Reese's Pieces.

Have you ever met anyone famous?
Yes. Yes, I have. Alright, he just shook my hand (or more like held it for a fraction of a second). It made my year, and I never will forget how much in awe I was. It was *cough* Aaron Carter. Hey, he was the heartthrob of my time. #hidesface

What's your least favorite chore?
Probably dust-mopping the floors. It leaves no scope for the imagination. ;)

What was the last movie you saw in theaters? What did you think of it?
The Amazing Spider Man. And yes, it was amazing. The title didn't lie. Though the ending bothered me. I could have figured out something better. Or maybe not.

What is one of your biggest fears?
Making phone calls. It's sad, isn't it? Ah, but an all too true fear. And that muzak that business's play while you're on hold is the most terrifying of it all.

My Questions to You:

What is a song that takes you back to a happy memory?

You're at the movies: candy or popcorn?

If you could live inside of the plot of a book for a month, which one would it be?

You're headed for a year to a deserted island (it's the latest craze): what is one thing that you would definitely take?

Rain or sunshine?

How many licks does it really take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll lollipop?

What's a verse that brightens you right up?

Have you ever had an album (we're talking pre-MP3s) that you played so much, it's practically worn out?

Why is that Goofy can talk but Pluto can't?

What's your most favorite of all the Holidays and why?

If there was one word to describe what you'd like for your 2013 to be like, what would it be?

  5. Thanks for nominating me, Michelle! As much as I'm honored to receive awards, I don't do them on my blog, but here are my answers!
    1. Mean, by Taylor Swift. And I'm not even a Taylor Swift fan, but we sang that nonstop one day with dear friends two summers ago. I miss them, and that song pulls me right back.
    2. Popcorn
    3. The Fiddler's Gun or Fiddler's Green, both by A.S. Peterson. Or else the Hobbit, and I would just stay in the Shire.
    4. A friend.
    5. Gee, I'm from Seattle. Of course I love rain. But I think I'm going to have to go with sunshine.
    6. I don't lick lollipops, not patient enough. So it takes me about two seconds.
    7. Romans 8:26-28
    8. I had a CD of Irish music that I listened to all the time six years ago. Before that, I had a cassette tape (remember those?) of Irish music.
    9. Because he's goofy of course!
    10. Easter. The grieving sadness in the days leading up to it, the somber Good Friday service, the day of waiting, and then Sunday morning bursting forth with JOY... it gets me every time. Hallelujah, our Savior lives!
    11. Do. I don't want to sit on the sidelines and watch, I want to do and to be. I want to take action and stand up and rise against and take root and be passionate about the things and people that are close to my heart.
Haha, sorry about the length of this! It was fun to do. :) Merry Christmas!

  8. Ah! Thanks so much for awarding me! This is my first blog award ever! :) I really appreciate it. I don't know if i'm going to be able to answer all of the questions though because of lack of time, but if I do, do you mind if I pick and choose which questions I answer? I was given other questions to answer by another blogger too.

    Blessings!
