The Five Love Languages

Alright, so a more scientific post than previous ones... sort of. I've touched on the topic lightly, but let me just admit it, I'm in love with personality tests. There is just something about comparing people's different traits and then learning about why they act the way they do. It can be hard for me to naturally relate to those who are very structured,  outgoing, in the moment, etc. The amazing thing is though, with learning about how others work, you start to realize they're not such a puzzle after all

The personality test that popped back into my mind tonight is extra special in my little ol' opinion, firstly because it was developed by a strong follower of Christ, with Christian values attached, and secondly because it deals with my favorite subject on earth. Yeah, love.

It's basically finding out how you feel the most loved, and in consequence, figuring out how other people feel loved. There are five different love languages: Words of Affirmation (feeling loved by the words people say), Quality Time (feeling loved by how much devoted attention people give you), Receiving Gifts (feeling loved when people give you things), Acts Of Service (feeling loved when people do things for you) and Physical Touch (feeling loved by touch, hugs, kisses, hand-holding.)

It's mind-blowing how one person can feel most loved and wanted by one thing and someone else might be immune to that language, but that's the mystery to crack open... It's all about reading others and finding out what makes them feel loved.

I took it again and got (once again) Quality Time. I think it's going to stick. ;)

Here are the tests if you'd like to give it a go. :)
Blessings to your Saturday! Go let your light shine to the world.

  1. I love these tests too, it must be an INFP thing! I have found though that my INTJ sister does not like this test but she likes the Myer Briggs test, and it would make sense that INTJs would not like this test so I am wondering if that is a common INTJ thing.

    1. Hmm, that makes sense really, because The Five Love Languages seems much more subjective and based around feelings rather than Myers Briggs which is more like a science.
